We are shaped to serve God, and we do that by serving others.  God wants us to have both a ministry within the body of believers and a mission in the world.  Our Missions and Ministries team meets to plan new opportunities to be on Mission in all our communities.

At Heritage there are multiple opportunities for you to serve, including the Alma Hunt State Mission Offering, Fluvanna Prison Ministry Collection, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Pregnancy Support Center Offering, FACES Super Bowl Soup Collection, Sharing Love Cookie Delivery, Annie Armstrong Home Mission Offering, and the Bland Mission Center.

A few of our larger mission activities include:

Twice a year, the Hope Clothes Closet holds a summer and winter clothing giveaway.  Clothing and other household items are provided free to those in need in our community.  The Hope Clothes Closet also extends our caring to individuals in nursing homes, community housing projects, residents of Madelyn’s House, and the Bland Ministry Center in Bland, Virginia.

Each fall, Heritage Baptist Church is the regional collection center for Operation Christmas Child.  In addition to collecting and preparing shoe boxes from other churches for distribution, we also support Operation Christmas Child with our own shoe boxes.

Madelyn’s House, the local shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence, is a focus area for Heritage. In addition to providing the paper-good needs for this home, we’ve provided meals, clothing, and opportunities to feel God’s love to the inhabitants of Madelyn’s House.

Every Friday morning from 9 am – noon, our Helping Hands community group meets to assemble tied quilts.  Each year, this group distributes about 200 quilts to touch people with the love of Jesus in their time of need.

The Rusty Nails are a group of experienced carpenters and handymen who help as needed.  They specialize in building wheelchair ramps to enable mobility for many of our older members.
